A trip to Karachi City

July 8, 2007

During last weekend, July 6~7, 2007 FAST organized International Conference on Information and Emerging Technologies ICIET 2007 along with Pakistan Student Congress 2007. The congress aimed at creating awareness among IEEE branches in Pakistan and bolstering network between them. If the trend continued, these people will meet every year to share their activities and increase there social circle.

The trip to Karachi city was a part of congress program. We went to PAF Museum, Mazar-e-Quaid and Kiamari. I enjoyed the trip, ofcourse but the congress members loved it alot. Most of them saw the see for the first time and a boat ride in Navy’s boat was like a dream come true for them. We were amazed to see the warships, submarine, containers etc. PAF museum was also a good place to visit. The fighter airplanes of different ages are kept there. The personal airplane of Quaid-e-Azam was also there.

On the whole, I enjoyed the trip and the best part of this trip is that it was very close to my graduation day and I am going to keep its memories for a long time.

I have finally selected a job

July 3, 2007

Job selection has been one of the hardest things I have ever done in
my life. When I was about to graduate, I applied at many places hoping
to get a job anywhere. But as the time passed, by the grace of God, I got offers from mainly two places, Techlogix and Limton Group
of Companies.

Techlogix is one of the very famous software
houses in Pakistan and they offered me the post of software engineer
along with good future prospects. Limton offered me the post of
Firmware/Software Engineer for a one year contract. For the day between 2nd and 3rd July, I was
in a fix to select which job to select to get the maximum benefit. Techlogix is a
bigger name and close to my home plus they have better salary package.
Limton is more related to what I have studied in microcontrollers and
embedded systems as a computer engineering student but their package
was less competitive.

I told my situation to one of my good
teachers who gave me a good idea of jotting down the pros and cons of
both companies and decide laterz. He also said that techlogix is a
better organization then Limton. Considering all these points I have
selected Techlogix to join from 1st August 2007. I just hope my
decision proves to be successful in future and I lead a good life at
techlogix.

Graduating Day at FAST

June 30, 2007

Today was the Open House in the university. Normally the people from
industry come to Open house to see what projects students have made and
hire the graduating students of their choice. But due to rains and a
bit late invitations, very few companies came to Open house today. In simple words, open house didn’t went good because I didn’t got any offers
[(-:].

Anyways I have officially graduated from National University
of Computer and Emerging Sciences today. This blog is the celebration
of the event. I seriously wanted to have a blog for the long time, but
I was looking for triggering time to start it. Now this blog will have
posts in a bi-directional chronological order. I will be posting my
memories on what I have done so far in university and what I will be
doing in my professional life. So keep checking. For now, I am going to
have a long awaiting lengthy sleep. Tata.
